The Grand Experience is a signature fundraising event for the Grand River Hospital Foundation that has just had a successful 7th year! Wildcraft Wherever Catered Events was fortunate to have been chosen as the catering and production partner once again for this amazing and collaborative event.
Planning for this event starts a year in advance of the date and is a joint effort between Foundation staff, Wildcraft staff, and an amazing team of volunteers who give very generously of their time to attend planning meetings, garner sponsorships and solicit auction prizes.
Over the years, we’ve had some fun and exciting themes, but this year’s Motown Magic theme was a big hit! From the hot red, rich purple and bright fuchsia colour scheme, to the authentic 45 record wall behind the bar, to the giant banners of Motown stars, we had a ball making guests feel like they’d been transported back to a different time!

Chef Sara McMurphy and her culinary team put a great menu together for guests to enjoy that included a “Gladys Knight and the Dips” station, “I Want You Back” ribs and “My World Would be Empty Without Pou-tine” late night bar.
Wildcraft staff looked especially dapper in their sequined Supremes style dresses and Four Tops bowties and had a little fun dancing up a storm themselves! The service team, led by Assistant General Manager (and catering guru extraordinaire) Jason Ernst, did a phenomenal job all night making sure guests were well taken care of!
All proceeds from this event will be used for the purchase of four portable ECG machines for Grand River Hospital. In 2012, there were over 21,000 ECG tests completed at GRH, and the need for ECG continues to grow. The hospital has an annual growth of approximately 13% in completed ECG’s. The four new units will replace ECG devices that are 10 to 15 years old costing a total of $15,000 per unit, $60,000 total.
Our heartfelt thank you goes out to the Grand River Hospital Foundation for allowing us to be part of this very important event, as well as to all the event guests who not only came out and danced up a storm, but supported such an amazing health care facility in our very own region.
